So a while back I wrote about starting the game Halo well that game play has slowed to a stop. So maybe over the summer I can pick up where I left off.
So I have had an obsession with testing out new messenging apps for a while. It's always fun to see what the interface looks like or what new features. The newest one will be Allo by Google. It's not out yet but it looks like it will be fun to test out not only the UI but the AI as well. I'm always wanting to share things with friends and having Google built in and ready to send pictures, links and videos will be nice. My guess it will feed nicely into their other product lines. The question now is what will happen with Google Hangouts and why wouldn't they just put all these wonderful features in that already established app. My hope is to get a beta invite to try the app.
So my new venture as I seem to have few lately is learning to be a prepper. I've been spending a good amount of time on YouTube researching products. My main goal is basically to have supplies in the house for the family. I'm not waiting for a zombie apocalypse just to have basic needs covered. That being said zombies don't drop by if that apocalypse does happen. Say what you will about this idea, people and situation it is something everyone should have ready. The government even has a section for preparation.
Wanted to add the link so you didn't think I was just making things up.
I'm finding all of these research very entertaining and informative. The people doing them are either normal or completely extrem. I will be shooting for moderation on my goal to be prepared.
Today was the start of a new year and the change point everyone needed. Now let's see how many people including me stick to it. I think I only accomplished one of my New Years goals last year. My list is short and sweet this year so wish me luck.
So I game passively but frequently and have really enjoyed playing Destiny. The game is a good stress release and I have enjoyed it a great deal. Well the bases for Destiny could be be said comes from Halo. I had never played a Halo game before recently. So I decided to start from the beginning and work my way to Halo 5. Currently I have only completed 5 missions on Halo CE. It started off very rough and slow but I'm starting to understand the fan base for this game. Playing an older game shows me how far games like these have come. There is very little guidance as to where or what you should be doing. It's small markers that point in a direction. You never truly know when you have completed a mission until the cut scene. Well it seems to be a working progress so I will see how it plays out.
So I was telling my wife a story about how I once took a train from New Orleans, LA to Chicago, IL and how painful it was. It was painful because it took a day and half to make this trip. To make money the train stopped every thirty minutes in some new town to pick more people up. Now days trains have WiFi and other luxuries to keep you entertained. We also have phones to play on and search the Internet. I just sat there and really didn't talk to many people. Now days I usually can't sit anywhere for long with out using my phone or getting on my computer. It's a crazy thing to think about not being able to unplug from these devices. There is almost a panic when we do need to disconnect. (Old man voice) "Back in my day" but I feel like I'm hitting a breaking point of needing to unplug. As much as I hated that train ride I almost wonder if I don't need another one. Just somewhere to sit and not have access to anything.
I've been working on my masters for about 2 to 3 years now. It's a online and part time so this is the reason for it taking a while. Last year I took a new job and found myself struggling to keep up with both. So I took a semester off and got back in in the summer. Now that I'm nearing the end of the degree I'm finding the stress of it to be overwhelming. I know that I will be better off with the degree and will fight to the end. Just wondering how other people deal with the stress of school and life. The worst part about this I feel my family has suffered for my drive to obtain this second degree. What is more beneficial obtaining the degree so to better support your family or to support your family by being there for them all the time? All this being said I haven't even finished this degree and I'm already thinking of the next degree.
Well yesterday was the day I finally gave up my unlimited data plan from AT&T. My feelings are mixed about the change. In one aspect I feel fine because I would only max out twice a year. Another thing is it's saving me some money. On the flip side I think it's the worst customer service ever. Why was I punished for being a long time customer? I used a good amount of data this month so I was throttled after 5gigs. It was so much throttled as turned off. I went for 50 down to .5 down. You can't do anything with that slow of speeds. Loyalty in the customer service world today means, you must deal with it or yell and scream to get your way. Customer service is completely gone in my eyes.
Lately I have read a lot of articles about Googles new Google + integration of your Gmail account. While I understand peoples worries over security I don't understand the miss-direction. The articles turn into a hate fest on Google + social network. If you spend any time with the site, app or the people it might change your mind. I have long been accused of being a Google fanboy, yet I wouldn't give up my Mac Book Pro or iPhone period. Google has a great things going with the content on Google + and it should be taken as a new form of social media. People try it and say it's not Facebook or Twitter then give up. The same thing was said about Twitter when it started. Facebook fans said it's just like Facebook but not as good. Now people are moving from Facebook to Twitter. Google + is more for videos, pictures and Gif's and interesting fans from almost anything you can think about. The posts are user generated and nicely displayed in the stream. Just wanted to put my voice in the mix for turn off the email feature and give Google + time and I'm sure it will grow on you.
Yeah waiting for this lecture to start.
