The second week went a little better than week 1. Some of the students missed a few days so that didn't help. The parents would call and say they were sick but they just didn't want to come. LAZY! I'm not sure at what point kids these days get a work ethic. I started working (in the summers only) when I was 15. I didn't truly learn how to work at a job until I was 21'ish. The one thing I always worked hard at was band so it's hard for me to understand sometimes why they don't. I think it might be a generational thing. Off my rant and back to band camp. We got some music done but not as much as I'd like. I know it's at the start but we are behind from last year. Drum line is to loud as usual and woodwinds not loud enough. I know the kids can do it but it's a matter of what motivates them. I will tell you one thing...they are social. I had some kids show up one the fence if they really wanted to do it...or didn't like marching band because it wasn't cool. I think they are hooked now.

I've got a Monday night practice this week and I'll let you know how it goes.
